The Institute of Heritage and Bhartiya Skills is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and revitalizing India’s rich cultural heritage, traditional knowledge systems, and skill-based practices. The Institute aims to bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary innovation by nurturing skilled professionals, artisans, researchers, and cultural entrepreneurs. It seeks to contribute to sustainable livelihoods, heritage conservation, and nation-building through skill development rooted in Indian traditions and values.
The Institute of Heritage and Bhartiya Skills shall serve as a premier center for education, research, training, preservation, and innovation in the fields of cultural heritage, traditional crafts, indigenous technologies, vocational education, and skill development. The Institute will play a vital role in safeguarding India's tangible and intangible heritage while preparing a skilled workforce capable of contributing to emerging economic and social opportunities.
The Institute will offer multidisciplinary academic and skill-oriented programs covering Heritage Studies, Traditional Arts and Crafts, Cultural Resource Management, Handloom and Handicrafts, Rural Entrepreneurship, Indigenous Technologies, Heritage Tourism, Conservation Sciences, Museum Studies, Folk Traditions, Traditional Architecture, Skill Development, Vocational Education, and Creative Industries. The curriculum will combine classroom learning with hands-on training, field immersion, apprenticeship models, community engagement, and industry collaborations.
The Institute shall establish specialized Centers of Excellence focusing on Heritage Documentation, Craft Innovation, Indigenous Knowledge Systems, Traditional Technologies, Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage Conservation, and Skill Development. Students will work closely with artisans, craftsmen, heritage experts, rural communities, cultural organizations, and industry partners to gain practical exposure and preserve valuable knowledge traditions.
Special emphasis shall be placed on promoting traditional Indian skills such as handloom weaving, handicrafts, pottery, woodcraft, metalwork, natural dyes, folk arts, heritage conservation, rural technologies, and community-based entrepreneurship. The Institute will support the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by transforming traditional skills into sustainable livelihood opportunities and globally competitive enterprises.
The Institute shall adopt a unique "Heritage-to-Harmony, Skill-to-Sustainability Framework" that transforms India's cultural wealth and traditional skills into engines of innovation, economic growth, and social empowerment. The framework will connect heritage conservation with entrepreneurship, skill development, and community advancement.
